12/29 Classic Rock Spotlight - what shows are those? In late 2011/early 2012 I did this series as it was supposed to be picked up by a station I was working at. It wasn't and there's only 3 months worth of shows... The Christmas countdown episode aired last Holiday Season. These are regular Top 30 episodes.

I log all my shows as follows... ACC, AT40, CBC (Cashbox Countdown), CT40, GR (Gold Rush) and MERC. Guess I'll now be using CRS to log some shows... AKA another name for Alzheimers... Can't Remember SH-- :-)

It was fun to do, but I had to give up on it. May revisit it in the future, but more than likely not.
Its a Top 30 from that week in history. LP cuts, Artist Profiles and interesting stories.

I am curious to know why the Cash Box Countdowns on Monday include a couple of regular shows from 6 am - noon. Since it's the end of the year, wouldn't it be more appropriate to air a year-end countdown just like the other Cash Box shows? Those 2 regular shows look a little out of place with the rest of the Cash Box programming.

Due to a problem the weeks they should have aired, they didn't as originally advertised. I'm airing them as it was requested by a listener.

what a great week to listen to some great shows - looking forward to listen to the classic rock specials, some gold rush specials and of cause AT40 1989 and 1991 and 1985 year end shows
Jeff, a question concerning 1986 year end: Do you have the complete top 100 ( premiere played some years ago just the top50)? Then there might be still a chnce to listen on WBME to the full chart!?

We couldn't get through 2016 without another music death as I just read that George Michael died at 53 today.

Devastating. He was a musical idol of mine. My personal charts have more year-end number ones by him than anyone else. Rest In Peace. I look forward to your tributes, Jeff.

Looking back at the 80's year end Hot 100 charts George Michael was the only act to be #1 on 2 different years as Careless Whisper was #1 for 1985 & Faith was #1 for 1988. You would think it would be another Michael (as in Jackson) that did that but surprisingly no. I don't know if any other decade had an act be #1 for or two or more years except maybe Elvis or the Beatles in the 50's & 60's.

You would think it would be another Michael (as in Jackson) that did that but surprisingly no. I don't know if any other decade had an act be #1 for or two or more years except maybe Elvis or the Beatles in the 50's & 60's. On AT40 strictly Andy Gibb did it in back-to-back years, which Elvis did proper in '56 and '57. Thus far, however, George has been the last to do it. Actually, a fast check of the entire 1989-2016 span reveals no single artist in that span has topped the year-end survey twice. (In fact, you'd be surprised how many times a given year's survey-topper has been either an act who did it with their sole #1 hit to date, or an act whose biggest year was the year they did it while the rest of their career hasn't let them get anywhere close.) The closest that came to happening - both in a single decade and in that entire span - was 1996, blocked by your favorite recently-discussed song and mine.

I figured Elvis did but I'm guessing the way you worded it Andy Gibb was by the AT40 staff not the Billboard Hot 100. I didn't realize until reading about it that the AT40 year end shows weren't always based on Billboard year end Hot 100 chart.

Correct. The Beatles also did properly (1964 and 1968).
Come to think of it... *does another fast check* if you use whatever AT40 year-end survey was given for a specific year during that period (with CT40 used for 1995-97), that statement of no act doing it twice in that entire period still holds true, actually. Only on CT40 directly (and thus in R&R) did it happen since 1988, with Mariah Carey in 1990 ("Vision of Love") and 1993 ("Dreamlover"). Come to think of it that means she came that close to doing the same in the 90s on AT40, since those same songs each finished #2 (heh).

Hey on the Cash Box year end charts (1956-1996)--the following artists had multiple year end chart toppers--
Chubby Checker--The Twist (1962) Limbo Rock (1963)
The Beatles--I Want To Hold Your Hand (1964) Hey Jude (1968) Madonna--Like A Prayer (1989) Vogue (1990)

I have an mp3 of this show but the sound isn't as good & the editing of it is bad because it's from a radio recording. But I hope it's fixed for 1991 & 1993 as I don't have them.

I recorded 1989 first on WBME at 08/15/2015. 1991 & 1993 are new for me too. I heard 1993 edition on Star Sat Radio here in Germany when it was published at new years eve 1993. But in times of cassette tapes with limited space to record I did not record tzhe show entirely back then.
just realizes it - 89 works again well - just Neneh Cherry on

Oddly it appears back to normal but that's going to really mess up the schedule as it was already 15 minutes ahead. The show I have is from 4shared but it's 8 about 45 minute segments with the ads cut out & a poor job of editing coming back from the breaks.

just compared my recording from 2015 with todays show. Back in 2015 the show was without adds. And there are also some skips in my recording where some seconds are missing - maybe that´s because I used radiosure for recording - the vlcplayer works better then radiosure...
If we are as far ahead in schedule that at the end of this show Jeff could insert the failing start of second half of the countdown eyerything would be fine again. But I fear this will not be easly done playing No50-37 again at the end of 1989 countdown
