On Saturday, May 6th, there are two AT40 times that show TBA as the scheduled show. When will those show dates be filled in?

On that note, we appear to be in need of more schedules, soon...!

You may notice a change.
I have been asked to be PD of Rochester Free Radio. I can't do both.
Therefore things, for now, will be like Monday and Tuesday look with a repeating rotation.
But soon it will be a rotation of AT40, ACC, Mark Elliott, MERC reruns, History Of Rock N Roll, Elvis Story, Robert W Morgan, Cashbox Countdown and a few other things.
I will give an order but cannot give times they'll air. But it will rotate every few weeks, so it WILL repeat.
I hope to have it this way soon.
Also, many shows will move over to WRFZ. Gold Rush and Metal Mountain already have.
Thanks for listening to us. We appreciate it. And who knows. If WRFZ doesn't last, this will be back!

I only need 4 hours of HoRR to complete the show and the hours I need don't air until July! Hopefully they'll still air. And what about Shadoe? Will they still air normal times? I guess I'm confused. Does that mean we won't know which shows will be airing?

I have to complete the schedule later today. HORR will still air in this new plan. For now I'm double running them, 2 a week.

Thank you!
Here's what WBME alumni are airing on WRFZ and when:
James Murphy's Pure Grooves: Early Monday mornings 2am-5am EST
The Gold Rush: Fridays 8-10pm EST
Metal Mountain: New Episodes Late Friday/Early Saturday 12am-2am... Older episodes 2am-4am (Back to Back) Just like we've been doing but reversed... new then old as opposed to how I programmed it here.
Music Expert Retro Countdown: Currently 7am-11am EST... Will be moving to 8am-12pm in a few weeks. Probably starting June 4.
ALSO, older episodes and specials may be on overnights from 1am-5am... I'll keep you all posted.
Other shows may follow. I may add a few shows like RWM or ME WT30 if I can... Not sure yet.

That will be interesting if you can get old syndicated shows like RWM and WT30 on WRZR. I wouldn't even be able to begin on figuring out who, if anyone, would own the rights to them now.

It looks like the AT40 70s series from Tuesday no longer fits the schedule.

Just didn't fit in to repeat like I'm doing. Shows will be included from that timeframe when I do the new thing.

I know it's less shows but I kind of like this schedule as you get more chances to hear something. BTW good luck at WRFZ hopefully you'll get some other public radio station to pick up on some of your fine shows.

I will still moderate the boards, as will anyone else with access to, like Adam for example.
The station will continue, just not be rigidly programmed anymore.
Please keep listening!

3 things... 1- Congratulations Jeff on the PD position!!! :-) 2- I'll keep listening for sure, hope there will be some kind of basic schedule available to give us a ballpark time as to when shows will be on. 3- This is for Josh Joel... was able to catch a Retro Soul Countdown for the first time today... was wondering what chart this is taken from. Couldn't find anything on the internet for a Soul countdown for 11-26-88. Enjoying the show though, thanks to all who contribute to station.

I found the answer for my Josh Joel question... the Billboard R&B charts... thanks. Great show.

I thought it was the Billboard charts but the problem is that they changed the name of the chart I think 3 times during that period. So finding them now might not be as easy I know in 1988 it was called the Black Singles Chart. But it could be the main chart or the separate single sales or airplay version.

#17 already?? Methinks the schedule's quite a bit far ahead of what's listed (maybe an hour or so). (Say - would this have skipped Cornflakes & Classics...?)

I tuned in 20 minutes early last night to hear the Retro Soul Countdown which was scheduled to start at 11:05pm yesterday evening and #33 was being played, making it about an hour ahead already at that time. Hopefully it gets back on schedule soon. "Lost in Music" is only a 2 hour show and it was scheduled for 3 hours in its Tuesday evening run.

I was trying to figure out where the hour earliness came from & you're both right he put in 3 hours for Lost In Music's 3rd airing. But with the busy week it's a wonder he got a schedule together. Best bet would be to tune in an hour early for everything till the weekend.

hi threre, just read about the news that Jeff will soon get PD of Rochester free radio: first of all congrats from me too Jeff!!
If I got it right, WBME will go on broadcasting when you go to WRFZ and the board will exist, too. I have to say that I regret deeply that Adam has decided too, to let AT40 with Shadoe end too - not sure if it depends more that Adam has not many more new shows or that you, Jeff will go to a terestical radio soon, or both. But I don´t look back in anger!! I´m more thankful that by chance I found your great station like a tiny needle in the big universe of the internet. Not just bringing back great shows with great music like all AT40 or Casey´top 40 which were aired in Europe too, but also the Queen episodes or now Elton John were very enjoyable. In todays radio it seems just to depend that the listener is tuning in a station without expacting anything coming at a special time. That´s why WBME has been so different. Jeff I hope you can still find time to update the schedule here on WBME to let us know when we can find hour favorite show. If not it would be helpful that e.g. Mark Elliots top 30 will stay as now on wednesdays and AT40 80s will stay on thursdays at special time so I know when to tune in and expect comimg up my favorite shows.
Great radio from people who care about their audiance is hard to find today. Here in Europe CFN Europe had been great but was shut down by canadian government in 2014. Since then WBME has been the best alternative in listening to great shows. Maybe like Adam mentioned the owners of the Shadoe show will someday will allow to let the show come again on the terrestical airwaves?! Why not after the great succes of the Casey era. Only time will tell (Nelson 1991).

This is addressed more in the Shadoe thread; there's additional factors in play besides Jeff's own changes.

A question about the WT30 I've noticed that it has taped interviews in it. Unless I'm wrong the first AT40 show with interviews was in May 88 with a brief clip of Gloria Estefan saying how to pronounce her last name & more clips in the Memorial Day 88 special Top Newcomers Of The 80's (so far). I can also say that the WT30 theme is funkier that most of the top songs today (but that's not saying much as some 80's ad jingles are too).

The same company that produced the History of Rock n Roll (Drake-Chenault) also made the Weekly Top 30--and two things both shows were known for 1) artist interviews and 2) production values of the show (music beds, jingles, music medleys/montages), Although I thought the chart for WT30 was not as accurate as AT40's chart--I always enjoyed the presentation of Weekly Top 30.
And yes, I believe you are correct in saying that AT40 did not use artist interviews until 1988.

If we're counting her, what about when Peter Wolf was on doing his DJ shtick? That was no later than 84, right?

If we're counting her, what about when Peter Wolf was on doing his DJ shtick? That was no later than 84, right? That might've been a sample of one his intro from a concert but that could count. But that might've been in 82 before one of the Freeze Frame album singles. But that Newcommers special on Memorial Day 88 was the 1st I remember with multiple interviews. Sadly, that's about all Seacrest worries about anymore but I guess with some of that garbage he has to talk up like it's a great song who can blame him.

Regarding AT40, it's ironic how there were no artist interviews until 1988, because Casey's TV show America's Top 10, had them from almost the beginning. I remember the news set Casey used to sit at, and one of his first interviews was Blondie. Its on YouTube somewhere. The Weekly Top 40 had a nice presentation, the chart however was quite dubious. I really like Mark Elliott and his delivery. He's right up there with Charlie Van Dyke and Bob Eubanks among my favorite guest hosts of AT40.
