Glad to see you made it back home and to hear the 'station' once again. I'll bet there's a big difference in temperature from where you were to where you are now. Happy New Year to everyone.

Happy New Year to All. Glad you enjoyed the Florida trip Jeff. It's neat how we all experience life differently. Born and raised in Florida, lived here my whole life. I've traveled the US fairly extensively but have never seen falling snow. Saw it on the ground one time, but it was barely enough to cover the ground. Looking forward the the schedule starting back up.

I have had some considerations of moving to Florida.... Wife's parents moved there in May. She's very close to them and misses them. I do too as I get along great with them.
If I do it will be somewhere between Tampa and Zephyrhills where they live.
Have been looking at/researching schools (drive a school bus for regular work) and radio stations. After coming home to a cCraptacular cold and snowy scene, I wanna go back!
If I can see that the two of us can make the same or more money along with bills/money not fluctuating the wrong direction... It may become a reality!

We don't have as much snow but here it's been around 10-13 below with a wind chill of 18-24 below with the highs making single digits. BTW glad to hear the station up & running again.

Heard a really great track on " The Gold Rush # 1 " , just after the Who's " Won't Get Fooled again " . It was sounding a bit like Styx with an organ play sounding like Emerson & Lake & Palmer. Any idea whta was that track or band ?

Listening to the 8-3-74 AT40 and Casey just answered a question regarding the biggest drop out of the #1 position--which was Sound Of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel (from #1 to #12 in 1966); that record will be broken by two singles later in 1974. Both Nothing from Nothing by Billy Preston & Then Came You by Dionne Warwick(e) & The Spinners will drop from #1 to #15 in October & November of 1974.
It's fun to listen to these old AT40 shows--it's like history happening on the pop charts before your very ears.
Happy New Year to one and all,
Joe

Listening to the last two August 1974 AT40's... first two weeks "Clap for the Wolfman" on Top 40. I've always wondered if Casey thought there should be a song dedicated to him, too. Both Casey and the Wolfman were pretty popular in those days, on the radio, acting on TV, etc.

You know, other than the Casey version of We Built This City that I made for the tribute show, I'm surprised that no one did one. Other than that long distance dedication song that was mentioned in either the Durkee or Battastini book.

Thanks to Jeff and Rodney and others who have done this in the past for making the effort to give times for the next couple days and sharing those times with everyone. I have done that occasionally, but it is a lot easier to just check the site periodically and get the times that way. I usually don't go more than 24 hours ahead when I am estimating times for myself.

Enjoying the show that started it all--American Top 40 from 7-4-70 (the chart was actually from 7-11-70). It's amazing to think that this first episode was heard on 7 stations at the beginning of the decade and by the end of the decade it was on over 300 stations. In addition, this first countdown took something like 18 hours to record. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I'm guessing the 7-11-70 AT40 show is the remastered version with the recreated 3rd hour since it was never found.

LOL...I never realized that it was "recreated" but I just pulled listened to the copy that I have saved and sure enough...it was pieced together from other shows (with a few mistakes due to "usin' what they had").
