I used to have a HP laptop ,in sound properties it showed a built in sound card and when i switched from mic input to sound card input it would record streams in stereo alas i thought most laptops at the time had this feature.Does anyone know of another way of doing this?

I use audacity, it's free and has stereo mix (if your computer is enabled for that). I am on Windows 8 and had to download an older audio driver to enable it.

in windows 8 ,i had to right click in the sound properties box and choose enable hidden devices then sound mix shows up.enable that and make it default i was using 2 pieces of software ,total recorder video pro was a waste of effort to try and capture iheart for that matter so was free sound recorder.
Free sound recorder used to work well for me on the xm casey shows ,but records iheart chitty
I will try audacity this weekend and also free sound recorder on wbme which streams in a much better setup now(embedded vlan player),
Stupid sirius xm ,they have all these wtf music channels and no 24/7 at40-ct40 station.Their streaming quaility is tops tho.

Agree completely about what you said regarding Sirius xm, but they probably don't want to pay the licensing fees. They spend millions on Stern and nothing on anything else of substance.

free sound recorder works well
i have to go to control panel -sounds-recording and disable the mic and any other sound device showing then right click ur mouse and choose show disabled devices then you will see stereo mix appear ,enable it and set it as default.
use this stereo mix to record the stream in wbme again make sure you have disabled all other recording devices make a test recording

Iam still kicking myself for selling my sons hp "beats" laptop which had an azzkicker of a sound card. Now even tho i have a nice new mid range laptop the sound card sucks on the recording side of things. In fact the 2 mid range laptops both cut corners on the recording side.My saving face is to borrow my sons alienware with its powerful hardware the test recordings sound as good as wemb itself! Wish i still had a desktop just for this purpose

I don't even have a laptop, so yep I record on desktop. How in the world does your son get better hardware than you , something's wrong with that!

I would record them or other special radio shows but I have a source for all the Premiere aired stuff, so I get them from that person.
If anyone wants to record things like Country Top 40 with Bob Kingsley or has old ACC or Country Top 40 shows of his, I would gladly make trades for other things.
