There are only a few episodes left before the show goes on hiatus for a while.
With the new baby, I fell way behind and will be shelving the show for a bit. It will return, at the earliest December.
Remaining shows:
This week: 6-8-68 Next Week: Tribute To Casey Kasem Part 1 Following Week: Tribute To Casey Kasem Part 2 Following Week: 7-1-72

I've come to be a big fan of the show. Particularly the 60s countdowns. But kids are priorities. Maybe tuck in a rerun once in a while?

I will see about doing that! May do a marathon on a holiday of some sort.

We may have a last minute call from the governors office...
A local Rochester station, that WILL be available online, is interested in a LIVE version of the show.
More details to come!

I'm glad to hear that the show may actually continue. It was one of the reasons that drew me to listening to WBME. But won't a live show be susceptible to production errors? At least when it's pre-recorded, you can edit out the errors.

Well, I have done live shows before and it won't be exactly as it is now. More loose and relaxed as opposed to rigid. In timing and in my style.
BUT, the same features and information on the songs!

Does this Rochester station have a live stream?

It did, something went awry and they're going to get it back, the sooner the better.
One change will be that ALL dates for 60's 70's and 80's are up for grabs. I will probably do an 80's one, once a month. Any 70's or 80's dates where Casey did a show, I will be using Cashbox charts instead of Billboard!

It's almost nailed down.
Sundays: 7am-11am. Always 4 hours, I'll just play extra music the weeks I do a 60's show.
The first show will be Sunday June 26th. I'll be doing 6-25-66.
The following week will be 7-1-72, but a live version, not like the one we'll air here.
Then 7-10-82 (Cashbox Charts)

Will these shows eventually be rerun on WBME during the scheduled MERC times?

Possibly. I had already agreed to give that Cashbox Countdown you see scheduled, a chance on the schedule.
I will try to air them at some point if I can record them. I don't have a way to record a stream, not sure if they will...

Jeff,
Surely there must be a way to record the stream or the way we used to do it in the old days--an off the air feed OR an off the board feed--both of which I used to do back in the dark ages (1979-1992--when I worked in the business for real).
Let me share one funny story from my old radio days: I remember once I was doing a newscast in the middle of a fierce thunder storm at a little station I was working at in South Georgia--when lightning struck the radio tower, which sat in a field just behind the station. To say it scared the sh_t out of me was an understatement and I let that word fly out over the airwaves, assuming we had been knocked off the air--BUT we had not. After fielding several angry phone calls--I decided to change my vocabulary on the air. I purposely learned to say 'poop' and 'dog gone it' in place of some other words I wanted to say when the mike was live. So, remember there is a difference between something that is pre-recorded and something that is 'live'--is it live or Memorex?
Best of wishes, DJ Joe

Hey, Did you get a chance to record the show?
I heard the first two hours and thought it went pretty well but would be curious to hear how the rest of the show went.
Maybe somebody was able to record it.

The station managers were going to record it for me. They are considering an overnight replay. I'll find out. The rest went pretty well. Hour 2 was the roughest.

What do the station managers think of your station? You would think if they heard your work, they would just stop wasting time and hire you as PD.

You can listen now on WBME to the countdown for 7-1-72, OR live this Sunday hear me try to replicate it! Let's see if I can mention WBME again!

Hey I worked at 8 different radio stations between 1979 and 1992 and I know I said the wrong call letters at least a few times at several of the stations; even though the equipment was different at every one and so were the formats at most--it's just part of being human:).
As I indicated earlier, hopefully you will be able to record the 'live' show and play it back on WBME so those of us that can't listen to the whole thing Sundays will be able to hear what we missed.

Could you give a link to the station website where you will be doing the show live so we can listen?

I've only bee listening to WBME for a year so rerunning the older MERC shows would be welcomed. Thanks for all the hard work.

I will definitely figure out something. Maybe running all the episodes chronologically on the weekends. And adding in reruns of the new ones where they fit.
