Died after a show in Detroit Wednesday. He was 52.
I didn't particularly care for the grunge movement, but there was something special about Chris Cornell's voice. "Black Hole Sun" definitely got my attention. It's a song that you could hear a million times and find something new each time. I still don't get what it all means, if it means anything, it may mean nothing...but hit me like a wall. RIP.
*Black Hole Sun* facts
#1 song of 1994 on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart (despite a peak of #2) #1 for seven weeks on the Mainstream Rock Chart failed to hit Hot 100 only due to the stupid singles rule. Reached #9 on AT40.

Hung himself. Sad really...
Oddly and perhaps on purpose, the last song they performed included pieces of Led Zeppelins In My Time Of Dying.

Other than Black Hole Sun #24 Airplay chart they had 2 other airplay chart hits the #40 Burden In My Hand & the now badly titled #37 Pretty Noose. His other group Audioslave hit #31 on the Hot 100 in 2003 with Like A Stone. Doesn't that make the 3rd of the main 5 grunge act that have passed now along with Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) & Layne Staley (Alice In Chains). I forget has Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilot who had many drug problems passed too? If so that leaves just Untalented Artist's Eddie Vedder.

I was thinking so but I wasn't sure. But I'm right about them being the main 5 or am I missing someone?

I'd say so. Can't think of any other important grunge names at their level.
