Hello everyone.
THE GOLD RUSH, the newest WBME original program, continues to air every weekend. It's an eclectic mix of not-so-often-played hits of the 60's, 70's and 80's, centered around special musical "topics." Songs that terrestrial radio has kicked to the curb are played here. We celebrate rock and roll birthdays (and sometimes salute their passing). We count down the top 5 pop chart of a specific week in top 40 history. And an ongoing feature is our "Close But No Guitar" feature where we play songs that peaked at number 41 during a particular year in rock history.
Each week, this program is entirely produced - from the paper scripts and run-down sheets to the finalized digital stereo audio file - by one person. ME. It's a labor of love that I create in my home studio here in Wayne, New Jersey.
Every week, I mention either THIS web page or the Facebook link created for the show, inviting listeners to check in and let me know they're listening and what song(s) they'd like to hear. There have been 20 shows produced. And to date, I have received no more than 3 individual acknowledgements from listeners.
WBME has no automatic metering system to monitor listenership. Unless you interact with us by posting a note at either website, there is no way of knowing how large (or small) an audience that ANY WBME PROGRAM carries.
So please understand, as it has been stated in the promo announcements for the show - YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Please tune in to the show. If you're a fan of 60's-80's classic pop music, you'll enjoy what has been assembled here. And when you do tune in, drop a note here or at the Facebook group page (type Tom Daniels Radio Show in the Facebook search line).
I appreciate your interaction...and I thank you for listening.
Tom Daniels

Tom - I am still listening nearly every Friday morning. I am mainly listening for the songs that don't get much airplay anymore (if they ever did), which is the specialty of your show. Thanks for sending out an email most Thursday evenings - my favorite part of the email is when you tell us the artists that will be playing this weekend, especially the ones that aren't the overplayed songs. I always like to know the song title and artist while I am listening to the song.

I loved the edit of the Deodato record. Different from the 45 but cool!

Mitch,
Thanks for checking in.
Always striving to bring out the old 45's - as one of the show ID's says, "taking them down, dusting them off, and playing them one more time." And usually as time permits I will try to post a Facebook page update about the lineup for each week's show; now I know that is wanted and welcomed it will continue. Please check out the FB page; let me know where you're listening so I can send a "shout" out to you!
Jeff - the Deodato edit was an attempt to bring it in line with the single, which I could not find. The LP version would have run the show nto extra innings!

I have an mp3 of the single edit. Yours was good though.

I've heard some of the shows before the Shadoe Stevens AT40 shows & I agree with the others in liking the variety & especially like the "car" theme show I heard. As a sports fan I hope to catch the "baseball" theme show. I also like the just missed feature of #41 songs & even though I'm not a Bears fan it would have been interesting to hear Casey intro "The Super Bowl Shuffle" but it peaked at #41 in 1986.

The staff here at WBME, including Tom, is outstanding. I would say the staff here on this webstation matches or beats most actual stations in small to medium markets. There is no question that radio is dying because of lack of quality, depth, and talented airstaff.
Everyone here at WBME has their own niche they know very well and that brings expert knowledge and background to the listener on each particular show. I thank Jeff for setting this vehicle in motion for programming that other stations can't, won't or don't care about doing.
Jeff, Is there truly not a way to measure listenership, I thought you could track hits on the radiostream site at least.
At40 fan - trust me, you don't want to be a Bears fan, it's misery. Heck, Chicago couldn't even score a point this weekend. I long for the good old days of the Super Bowl Shuffle.

Well, I for one am a fan. And honestly, I only catch about the last 30 minutes of Tom's show before AT40 comes on, but now that I know he posts a playlist (at least that's my understanding) I'm gonna check that out and dig a little deeper into that show.
I generally keep to myself on forums, but you guys have a pretty good group here. Not as much drama like there is on other forums.
I remember the Super Bowl Shuffle very well. But as a Seahawks fan I can't say I have much sympathy for the Bears performance yesterday.

Hey everyone: THANK YOU for the responses. I intend to do "shout-outs" to acknowledge you all (hard to do when I don't have actual names). If any of you haven't already been there, PLEASE check out my Facebook page.
Nope; no drama here. Just good music and some fun facts to go with it.
Yes, I do try to post a brief summary of the "agenda" for each week's show (on the FB page); this is usually done right after the final mixdown of each show, but certainly no later than Wednesday prior to the show's first airdate.
As for the baseball set, it was part of the debut show back in May; I will consider pulling that segment for a post-season replay.
Honestly, I am humbled by the responses and absolutely thrilled that you're all listening. Thank you!

Maybe you could do a "best of" show?
It is great. I strongly encourage everyone to at least once check out all the shows. The new ones hosted by James Murphy also play some great hits!

This is Chuck Mibb thanks for replaying the Baseball show. After the sad start of the playoffs I needed something to start the weekend. Go Mets give these overrated Cubs a 1969 replay.

Chuck - you're welcome! Glad you liked it! The baseball replay was actually NEW and IMPROVED - and EXPANDED!!! I only did the first 7 songs back on show #2 in May; so I widened the playlist on this later show to take up the whole two hours!
