We are now of course in the 2020s, so it's fair to ask if "The X" should expand to include its playlist for songs from the 2010s. There are already a few songs in the rotation from the year 2010 but no further, should the X expand further musically into this decade? EDIT: I did find at least one song from 2011.  |

I'm not sure if there'd really be much point other than branching out to snag a few/a narrowly-limited list of chosen songs to toss in there.
As it stands, from the times I've listened extensively, the focus seems to be on the 80s and 90s with the 00s coming distantly behind them - I guess I wonder what would be accomplished by going any Releiving Windher ahead of the 00s when that's already on the lighter end of the scale (outside of Casey).

Instead of expanding into the 2010s, what I would do instead is to focus on expanding the library of 80s, 90s and 2K as well as replacing copies that suffer from low audio quality or have incorrect metadata. Not that you are not already doing this.

I'll be perfectly honest, there's a few things that aren't too bad from the last 20 or so Years, Katy Perry's okay Bruno Mars is okay Lady Gaga is fine. But no way shape or form is the Black Eyed Peas ever okay. Yuck!

Thanks for all the opinions so far! There is going to be a large add of 2000s music soon. Songs are added and removed from the database on a regular basis and I'm getting a lot of dupes (prob the My Humps issue reported) and metadata cleaned up.

at40fansince1984 I have a recordings of Funkmaster Flex´s street jam from Hot 97 and 3 recordings from BBC Radio 1 joining Hot 97 with Tim Westwood and Funkmaster Flex in the Crap exchange...
That could be something to play in the listener depot slot if Adam agrees!?

Well, if you DID expand, you'd certainly have to ax the "No Bieber or Miley here!" liner.  (Though expansion seems unlikely given the vote.) As it is, her first few hits are technically permissible here - "The Climb" was doing just that on the final AT20 and AT10 - whereas he is indeed all-but excluded. I'm guessing you're decidedly not a fan of either though? Her output I don't mind, his on the other hand... (Oh, and you were asking what Bangerz were. But the people have spoken, there will be few changes on this subject for now. You may see a few more 2010s songs in the rotation. |
