Hurricane Ian is making its way towards our area. As a result we will be staying on the air as long as we can. But if our power is knocked out and we go off air please know that we will update you if we are okay. Also, we can tell you that Friday or Saturday is when it should be out of the area and that is about when we would come back on the air if we go off.
Keep us in your prayers

Our power has flickered here and there and dud a long enough one to reboot the station computer. I decided to shut it down for the time being. Back as soon as we can!

Hey, stay safe! That's the important thing! Hope the damage, if any, is minimal!

Just some information for those who care or have morbid curiosity issues, LOL we lost our power at 8:30 p.m. last night and it came back on at 5:00 a.m. this morning. I did start up the station but the power keeps flickering on and off because they are fixing the power in other areas. So my plan is to wait until tomorrow morning to resume broadcast. We still will have some wind today which might knock the power back out so I just figure it's best to wait.
As for damage, we had none to our property, a few downed limbs is all that my neighborhood had. Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers, we love all of you our listeners and look forward to returning to the air soon.

My sister and her kids and grandkids decided to go to Disney World this week but are thankfully all right. I recall my radio career began back in 1979 with my working at a small radio station in Alabama, about 70 miles of Mobile, and less than one month into my time at the station the area was hit by Hurricane Frederic--I ended up staying up for over 24 hours and I was on the air during the overnight hours. I was told later that our station was one of only two that stayed on the air during the height of the storm.

Yes glad you all are allright, Jeff Michaels, especially considering the news reports from what I have seen down there. djjoe1960 That was the call of duty in radio back in the day, what an amazing story. Glad your sister, kids and grandkids are all ok. I do not have any experience with hurricanes being from the Midwest of course, but I think all of us who served in radio during the days where there was a live airstaff 24 7 have an experience like yours with weather. Mine had to do with the incredible tornado outbreak of June 2, 1990. I had only been doing air shifts for about a year when that hit. In fact, it was almost a year to the day of my first air shift running Rick Dees Top 40. I stayed on the air through the evening sending out warnings left and right as we were one of the largest stations in my part of the state and a P3 relay. I was only 19 at the time but kept my cool surprisingly well. Will never forget that airshift. www.weather.gov/ind/june2_1990tor

Our power has flickered enough that we are not going to attempt to go back online until late today. We are fine in the storm is pretty much missing us however to be safe we're leaving everything off
