I have an odd suggestion/idea for WGXX. If they are available for the show being played, can all of the original promos be played in a row at the top of the hour right before the show starts? I just wanna hear them and well......... they really hype me up.

In time, I will probably run them through the week also.

When I used to play shows I would throw the promos or at least one of them in before the show aired.

I think you had a brief hiccup - it just played about 10 seconds of "Suicide Blonde" and then switched to "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You". Both songs even show up on the log.

Good idea to run the promos during the week before the show will run (suggestion: at the top of the hour) - probably with a hint as an advertiser to tune in wednesdays at 8am/pm for AT40 the Shadoe Stevens years on WGXX

This is my ideal idea of what to do with the promos if they are available.
Air all of the CURRENT SHOW'S promos right before the show starts at the top of the hour.
Air NEXT WEEK'S promos between some WGXX songs. Include something like "Listen to this show at this time only on The X, WGXX"

Thanks for the suggestions, all are welcome. There is still plenty of work to be done on the station, updates are being done daily. Occasional promos will be put in at some point but my vision is to make this a different kind of station with not a lot of interruptions of music.

In the station mentions of AT20 12-1-07, there was a mention of a station called "The X."
Did any of y'all took a time machine and made Casey Kasem say that?
Maybe you can clip that mention and use it as a WGXX station IDs.

I have another suggestion. There's a thread in the WGXX Shows section for Shadoe and Casey 2.0, so what about AT20? Shouldn't there be a thread about AT20? (In case that's not clear - feel free to start it up!)

That's what "powers and abilities...far BELOW those of mortal male and female people" will do! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

I only listen to the Rick Dees shows from the 80s. Anything countdown related from the 70s and 80s I will listen to no matter the host. The 90s to present Rick Dees shows I don't even touch with a ten-foot pole. It's so easy to joke with the WT40 as the same things happen in the show over and over. The same jokes, the same voice actors/characters, the same sound effects, the same giveaways etc. The account is named the way it is because I wanted to stand out from the rest of the Casey and Shadoe lover account names I see all over the web and clearly it has been working well for me. Now imagine if this Dees Sleaze name was on AT40FG.....

Dees, you hear my countdown yet? MERC? Thoughts? I have heard a little bit of your show yesterday (less than one hour) and I liked it. I will look into the affiliate list and I'll try out some more of the internet radio stations that carry your show. If there's an internet radio station that's commercial-free (KFYZ doesn't count), plays your show in the afternoon (I'm in the US BTW), and is part of a set a long with other syndicated radio shows, please let me know.

He's on right now and every Tuesday at 4pm Eastern. WGXX will have an 80s show every week, even if the A show is from another decade.

All stations play commercials or PSAS or something to fill the hour. (It's 4 hours, 50-54 min per hour of show.)

The 90s to present Rick Dees shows I don't even touch with a ten-foot pole. Isn't it really up through 1993 or mid-1994 or so that his show more or less stays constant? I get steering clear when the charts start changing (though some of that period I'd be interested in if only for sheer morbid curiosity, and like second half of 1999/first half of 2000 has nostalgic value as many of those I actually heard back then), but doesn't his show otherwise stay pretty much on an even keel - such as it is - until they start messing with the chart? I'm just not sure of exactly when that started.

Hmmmm. You know...if I was still doing the week-by-week retrospective as I'd been doing, I'd be finishing up 1992 at this point and moving into 1993. That makes "I Don't Care" (playing as I type this) something of a sneak preview (but not quite, as it debuted on the Hot 100 on 11/28/92). And I gotta say, it's much better than "Stay". Would you believe I never heard either song until hearing them on consecutive nights this week?

23 listeners at this typing...I'd say the word is definitely out!

Coming out of MERC, we've had: "Nookie", "Better Be Good to Me", "Doo Wop (That Thing)", "Stand By Me", "Better Days (And the Bottom Drops Out)". Every other song couldn't possibly be a big hint of the next show to come. No siree.

What a coincidence (sp?), songs are on a completely random rotation except for timing for artist and track repeats!

1992 finishes, and what could be heard at the beginning of the first song, but: "How 'bout a round of applause...standing ovation?" It of course goes in the opposite direction from there, but still.

I've read this comment several times, but still I am like, ?? huh? Great show just finished, and the first thing sung right after it does: "How 'bout a round of applause...standing ovation?" (But go any further into that song, and it decidedly doesn't match the sentiment.)
