what song are you referring to? Sounds like "Take A Bow" by Rihanna?

Another pitfall of automated scheduling - randomizing can produce some psycho-crazy results. Case in point: I looked at the recently-played just now. Martina McBride's "Valentine" followed by "Rump Shaker"?!?

So 2003 ends and the first song played is from tomorrow's year of 1992 (albeit from a different place on the calendar). Nice!

So Rick Dees was on this week's 1990 Dance Traxx as a national ad and Jeff Wyatt was on the WT40 as guest-host in the 90s. gotta love these little circles

RICK DEES GUEST-HOSTED THE WEEKLY TOP 30 FOR MARK ELLIOTT, MARK ELLIOTT GUEST-HOSTED AT40 AND CT40, RICK DEES WAS WITH DICK CLARK WHO WHICH GUEST-HOSTED AT40 BACK IN 1972, RICK DEES AND SHADOE STEVENS WERE BOTH ON HOLLYWOOD SQUARES............... it goes on and on

Adam ran 7/21/90 during the first run of Shadoe - Rick popping up for an ad on, what was effectively competition, was something I filed under: "Something That You Don't Hear Every Day". (Then again, the countdowns may have competed with each other, but while AT40 was an ABC property, so too was Into the Night - thus, the ads.)

RICK DEES AND SHADOE STEVENS WERE BOTH ON HOLLYWOOD SQUARES............... it goes on and on Turns out Casey had appearances on Squares, too - with Jean. BUT: Casey's and Shadoe's involvement with Squares never overlapped. At least, not that I know of. The one and only week where Casey appeared on Squares hosted by John Davidson, happened near the tail end of a few-month period where Shadoe was gone (he was off filming Traxx, the episodes where he was gone have airtimes of February 9-June 5, 1987; Casey's appearance was the last week of May '87). In any case, no Davidson episode with Casey on it has yet resurfaced (there's about 80-some total episodes from that run of Squares that have so far). There isn't a real comprehensive guide out there for the run of Squares hosted by Tom Bergeron, though one episode from either on or near Valentine's Day in 2003 is up on YouTube where Casey's on. But, Shadoe left as announcer after the 2001-02 season.

If you listen to American Dance Traxx all night you may get a craving for Jumpin' Jack Cheese Doritos which sadly you can't get now but slapping Jay Leno for the ads you CAN do.

Posting this here because the original post is in the old Schedule thread and it doesn't really make sense to bump that just for this and it doesn't really belong anywhere else. An injection of current events: I will note that - perhaps unfortunately - songs are spending longer and longer near the higher reaches of the Mainstream chart again these days ("Blinding Lights" by the Weeknd is the first to spend a full year on the entire chart, doing so this year! ), but things like that can't be blamed on the chart. That falls squarely on radio airplay trends/habits/whathaveyou. After 60 weeks, "Blinding Lights" is finally gone, as of the 2/27/2021 Mainstream chart.

Now, how do you like that? Just a few minutes ago, we got Jessica Simpson's "I Think I'm in Love With You". With only Selena's "Dreaming of You" separating them, what should come up now at this typing? Who else, but the song Jessica sampled - John (Cougar) Mellencamp's "Jack and Diane"!

If there was ever any doubt that AT40 plays a "clean version" of "I Wanna Sex You Up" - let what's playing now dispel that. LOL

While I'm going through one last research dump, I'm pretty sure I'm having deja vu here: "Love Shack" played just after 11:30, then there was an ad for tomorrow's 2000 show, now as I type this...it's "Love Shack" again!

Yes I have duplications in my music database. PM Dawn is a problem I noticed recently too. I have a rotation rule setup where the same artist is not played for at least 3 hours and the same song over 30+ hours. However the computer will not detect multiple verisons labeled incorrectly. I have some tracks where PM Dawn is listed P.M. Dawn or P M Dawn, so the computer doesn't pick up on it. Memory Bliss played twice within in an hour. This B-52's incident is proabably the same issue. I am going through them over time to weed out.

Would anyone object if I started a poll asking whether or not to ax the r-a-p censor already? It's basically nothing more than a liability at this point, with our using words that have that sequence of letters being far more common than just that word.

Sounds good to me as better things to censor would be Nickelback, Nirvana, Untalented Artist, Taylor Swift they really deserve the cCrap censor more. Other examples Crapture by Blondie, TCrapped In A Closet by R. Kelly, WCrap It Up by Fabulous Thunderbirds all unrelated that get messed up.

I just programmed that to be funny. WBME doesn't play it so it's from before a time Adam would on his station.

Hello, WBME/WGXX staff. I was wondering if anyone around here know of other AT40/Rick Dees/etc type countdown shows but instead of focusing on Top 40, they focused on other genres, such as Rock, Alternative, Country, R&B, Adult Contemporary, etc. For the the Rhythmic format, there was American Dance Traxx from 1987-1993 but that one's well-documented here. An earlier comment mentioned an R&B countdown hosted by Walt Love, who was the R&B reporter at Radio & Records. For your WBME channel, how about retro-based syndicated shows that aired during the 1980s, 1990s, or 2000s since 60s/70s/80s music fits better there than on the WGXX channel. For an example, there was a syndicated show in the 1990s that played 70s/80s disco music called " The Retro Show".
