Hello, WBME/WGXX staff. I was wondering if anyone around here know of other AT40/Rick Dees/etc type countdown shows but instead of focusing on Top 40, they focused on other genres, such as Rock, Alternative, Country, R&B, Adult Contemporary, etc. For the the Rhythmic format, there was American Dance Traxx from 1987-1993 but that one's well-documented here. An earlier comment mentioned an R&B countdown hosted by Walt Love, who was the R&B reporter at Radio & Records. For your WBME channel, how about retro-based syndicated shows that aired during the 1980s, 1990s, or 2000s since 60s/70s/80s music fits better there than on the WGXX channel. For an example, there was a syndicated show in the 1990s that played 70s/80s disco music called " The Retro Show". Thank you for listening and the comments! Trust me we would like to run more of these type of shows but they are hard to find. We do run Listener Depot Mondays at 8 Eastern where listeners drop shows for everyone to hear. A lot of gems are found there. WBME is now running some other radio shows in between shows of the Music Expert Retro Countdown. A schedule of those can be found on the WBME section of the forum.

If have also 1 episode of "The Retro Show" on tape. Because it´s on MC with 2x45min to record about 30min. are missing of the show. But maybe it´s still worth listening to on the Listener Depot because it´s so hard to find recordings...
P.S. I have also some recordings of Future hits and Walt Baby Love´s "Countdown" that was also on VOA Europe on my MC´s. But especially my recordings of The Countdown are not complete shows. I would have needed thousands of Cassettes to record all these great countdown shows in full length back then...

There were several R&B style shows in mid 80's through the 90's Coast to coast top 20, top 30 USA with donnie simpson, on the move with tom joyner, the countdown with walt baby love also there was hotmix which played a lot of remixes and dance tracks and also for rock there was the rock album countdown....all those shows out side of hot mix are kinda tough to find ...the donnie simpson shows are probbaly 2nd easiest to find

from wikipedia--
In the 1990s, Leeza Gibbons hosted the radio countdown show Blockbuster Top 25 Countdow. The show was created for Adult Contemporary and Hot Adult Contemporary formats. Gibbons counted down the hits in the respective formats and included entertainment news and pre-recorded interviews. When Blockbuster Video stopped sponsoring the program in 1999, the show's name was changed to Leeza Gibbons' Top 25 Countdown. The Adult Contemporary version was cut to a top 20. In January 2001, the countdown aspect of the show was dropped and was renamed Leeza Gibbons' Hollywood Confidential, which focused more on entertainment news. The change in format brought new life to the show, as the show continued on for another 12 years (ending in 2013).
I recall listening to a few of these at the time and I wonder if anyone has any of these shows?
