Here's the Pump & Dump for 8/20/88. Only 3 non Top 20 songs this week. Here's a quick summary of 2 of them Johnny Hates Jazz - I Don't Want To Be A Hero (I'd forgotten they had another hit besides "Shattered Dreams") Denise Lopez - Sayin Sorry (Don't Make It Right) (Good song but I can think of a lot of better female sang dance songs) My pick this week though is Missed Opportunity by Hall & Oates (I thought this song should've done better & it would've been cool if it had debuted the week they hosted AT40) No dumps again this week but I'll finish by saying this was a good mix of music that was the beginning (for better or worse) of New Kids On The Block & Bobby Brown hits, contained songs by Michael Jackson that broke his streak of 5 #1's from Bad & Whitey Houston that broke her streak of 7 straight #1 songs & finally with "Nightmare On My Street" debuting it was the 1st week where a Hip-Hop act had two hits in the Top 40.

Here's the extra predictions for 8/20/88 Poison - Fallen Angel moved 51-41 on it's way to #12 UB40 - Red Red Wine one of the biggest Hot 100 movers up from 85-67 on it's way to #1 (As I said it would be cool to hear a clip of Casey from when it first charted in 83) These two are stretching it but here we go The Four Tops - Indestructible debuted at #91 but made #35 & was their first hit in 7 years Rob Base & D.J. E.Z. Rock - It Takes Two - debuted at #92 on it's way to #36 but I hear it today more than some hits that made it higher Finally the highest debut on the Hot 100 was Don't You Know What The Night Can Do? by Steve Winwood at #61 but since Roll With It is #1 there's no need to hear him again.

Previous Hall & Oates single was "Everything Your Heart Desires." "So Close" came out in 1990.

Silly me put the wrong song & I had one of the Top 40 books looking up chart positions. I'm going to have problems with this spell check because cCrap is not what I mean I guess I'll have to use Hip-Hop instead.

Lol, I had put that to be funny on the swear bot since we generally don't play much of it.

Lol, I had put that to be funny on the swear bot since we generally don't play much of it. What's funny is I didn't notice it until I saw it in the quote of my comment & I thought I just made a mistake & corrected it but it does it for wCrap with a w & fCrap with a f too. I've been listening to a few of the other shows but what I'm trying to catch is the Dr. Demento shows (as I just love the goofy comedy & novelty songs) but it's usually when I'm working or resting for work. Anyway here's a Retro Countdown idea the Top 40 Comedy/Novelty Songs of the 70's. Finally thanks to both of you for the Shadoe shows because it's nice to hear the end of the 80's & some of the 90's (despite the fact they changed from the Hot 100). I'd rather hear Shadoe Stevens' AT40 than Ryan Seacrest's AT40 anytime (not just because I can stand some of the songs but because I find Seacrest annoying more worried about gossip CCrap than the songs & the chart seems based on who kisses Ryan's ass most each week).

One in the works that I'll do eventually is the top 100 novelty songs of the rock era.

I will say, I am not sure how I am handling Christmastime this year. If its the same, there will be no shows from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Maybe the week following, the ones that should be aired can be played in a marathon! Hopefully we won't get several weeks of Christmas music. I can handle some scattered Christmas music for a month or so, but not 24/7 like WBME provided last year.

We usually play Christmas music from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Lots of radio specials too. Though I might do a few things for the non Christmas music fans...

The local station here that plays AT40 the 80's plays Christmas music every year from Thanksgiving to New year which was one of the reasons I went to finding stations online to listen to it. I know there were 3 Casey Kasem Christmas countdown shows & I'm guessing their was a Dr. Demento Christmas show or too. I'm guessing like with regular music you'll play some different Christmas songs instead of the ones you've heard a zillion times a zillion ways. 2 of my favorite Christmas songs that I never hear on the radio (for obvious reasons) are "Holy Sh*t It's Christmas" by Red Peters & "Merry Muthaph*ckkin' Christmas" by Eazy-E. What I always wanted a station to do was go for an hour (at least) & play nothing but different versions of the same Christmas song just to see if they mention anyone calling in saying enough is enough.

I'm considering all the options. I may leave the 830pm slot for AT40 and leave the rest for holiday specials and music. I have many country ones. Original specials, countdowns, Dr Demento and so many more.
We keep it clean but yeah, we play a lot you're not gonna hear anywhere else!

I make the mistake of listening while I have the cue sheet up & get disappointed when I don't hear all the ads which is odd because the last thing you wanted to hear listening to them growing up was the commercials.

I like hearing the ads also. Unfortunately, a lot of the ads are missing from the copies I have. Not all ads from the show will air as we're fitting a 4 hour show and extras in to a 3 1/2 hour timeframe. I will put ads in when possible after the 2nd segments and before an extra if I have them.

Here's my extra picks for 8/22/92 1. #4 on the Hot 100 not on AT40 Sir-Mix-A-Lot "Baby Got Back" 2. #21 on the Hot 100 not on AT40 House of Pain "Jump Around" 3. #36 on the Hot 100 not sure if it ever made AT40 U2 "Even Better Than The Real Thing" 4. The top debut on the Hot 100 at #72 INXS "Not Enough Time"

Here's the pump & dump for 8/22/92 (These are based on the Hot 100 not AT40) Here's the pumps 1. Rozalla - Everybody's Free (Too Feel Good) (Only made #37 but has went on to become a known dance classic & used in some commercials) 2. Mary J. Blige - You Remind Me (She deserved at least a Top 20 for this & it's a shame that Real Love was her only lead Top 10 hit) 3. Michael Jackson - Jam (A video with Michael Jordan & a verse from Heavy D. yet this song only could get to #26) 4. Genesis - Jesus He Knows Me (I think we know what stalled this one some stations were afraid of Jesus) Now the dump (that isn't really a dump because it was on the Hot 100 but not AT40) Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart (I'd rather hear Weird Al's parody Achy Breaky Song instead of this overplayed tripe any day & that goes for his daughter's songs too)

Thank for the update I just thought they were from original copies. It's just fun hearing how old ads for products still around sound & how ads for no longer made products tried to become successful. But I think most interesting are the contest ones & hearing what movies or TV shows they promoted during AT40.

I appreciate the extra guesses but extras will not be based on the Hot 100 for any show after 11/23/91.

In all of the discussion about Friday's AT40 show and the missing 1st segment, I just now realized as I was listening to said segment (thank you, Adam) that somehow I didn't get #7 through #1. Almost the entire last hour. Any chance anyone has that? Thank you in advance!
